I had to add about 8 inches to the sides because I am rather an extraordinary woman, but it's warm and soft and wonderful to wear, when it's very cold out. It's REALLY WARM. The fabric is a heavy cotton sweatshirt knit that I picked up a long time ago. Nowadays it seems that all you can find is polar fleece. Nice stuff, polar fleece, but sometimes you just want cotton next to your skin, you know?
Congratulations on your new sewing machine! I love the blue top that you made with it. I do have one construction question: did you lengthen the sleeves? It's next up on my list to make but I'm thinking I want the sleeves to be long.
ReplyDeleteNo, I did not lengthen the sleeves at all, but I did add 8 inches to the width to make it fit around me, and that lengthened the sleeves as well (since the sleeves are part of the body and not a separate piece. The sleeves are definitely long enough for my gorilla arms, but maybe next time I'll eliminate the separate 'cuff' and just make the sleeves longer and fold them up as needed.
